Absentee Ballots

With the size of the precincts and distance to poling places, voting by absentee ballot may be a sensible alternative for many Sheridan County Residents.

An absentee ballot request form can be found at www.sos.state.ne.us/elec/pdf/absentee.pdf in a pdf format. Once the request form is completed, Sheridan County Residents should deliver or mail it to:

Sheridan County Clerk:
Sindy Coburn
P. O. Box 39
Rushville, NE 69360

More information about early or absentee voting provided by the Nebraska Secretary of State can be found at www.sos.state.ne.us/elec/absentee_page.html.

Early ballots can then be hand delivered or mailed to the same address. The following is a direct quote from the Nebraska Secretary of State website:

" The first day to accept applications for county clerks/election commissioner is 120 days before an election, although, they cannot be voted until 35 days before the election.

The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is at 4 p.m. on May 5th for the Primary election and not later than 4 p.m. on October 27th for the General election, although, the last day to vote absentee in your local election office is the day before the election.

When is my absentee ballot due if I return it by mail

The county clerk/election commissioner must receive absentee ballots returned by mail by 8 p.m. CST on election day."
