Present were Jack Andersen, Chairman, Commissioners Dan Kling and James Krotz, County Clerk Sindy Coburn and Tom Shaal of the Sheridan County Journal Star.

The Board appointed Phil Curd to serve as the Sheridan County Surveyor for the purpose of re-establishing several corners for Mark Tiensvold in Section 4 of Township 30, Range 46.

The Public Works Director for the City of Rushville, Kirk Beguin, appeared before the Board to request that the County provide equipment and labor to reestablish the grade on certain segments of 340th Lane, which borders the city on the west. In exchange the city would provide crushed concrete and water for County Road projects. The Board considered this project well within the existing agreement of cooperation between the County and the city.

Road Superintendent Yardley reviewed with the Board the State regulations concerning the classification of “minimum maintenance” roads. A ˝ mile section of 790th Road beginning 5 miles east of White Clay will be the only access to a soon-to-be-occupied residence. Even though the home is on the South Dakota side of the border regulations will require the reclassification. The Board approved a petition to the Board of Classifications and Standards requesting the reclassification.

The Board considered a request from Chamberlain Mortuary for an increase to the agreed price for County Burials. The matter was tabled until such time as the Board could gather additional information and schedule a meeting with a representative of the Funeral Home.

The Board discussed a proposal from Sequoia Consulting Group to provide Group Cost-Allocation Services. After review the Board decided that the current agreement with Maximus Consulting provides better value for the County.

The Board decided not to enter into an agreement with the Nebraska Association of County Officials for “purchasing card” services.

Acting as the Board of Equalization the Commissioners approved a correction sheet to delete from the 2009 tax list a mobile home once owned by Viola Webb. The mobile home had been sold and moved from the state and though the taxes had been accelerated and paid the property had inadvertently remained on the tax list.

All meetings are open to the public and visitors are welcome.
